[ He's gone to the trial, of course, despite- well. Despite the really eventful past few days he had and the- well, the fight they had over vigilantism and Bruce having a personal stake that he cannot fully justify or explain.

His injuries are bandaged up and hidden beneath his clothes, though if you look carefully you can see the white bits peeking out of the collar, and he's still paler than usual (not than you can tell, because he's usually pasty either way) as he goes up to Edgeworth.

His smile is a little unsure. ]

Hey. [ Pause. ] Do I get to say 'I told you so', or has many, many people beaten me to it?

[There's a slight twinge in Edgeworth's chest - just a bit of discomfort, either guilt or lingering resentment. He's not altogether certain. But he knows...He knows he was in no small part in the wrong. He believes what he was arguing, and will always believe it, but he was also assailing one of Wayne's heroes. That was cruel.

So he suppresses that, and focuses on his good mood instead, and nods to Wayne.]

What did you tell me, precisely?

[ Well, would it be more or less cruel if he knows that it's not his hero that's assailed, but himself?

Bruce shrugs a little, looking at Edgeworth- and figuring that Re-l kept her word about not telling anyone about Bruce's injuries- before he smiles again. ]

Well, that this couldn't be done without you. 'I believe in Miles Edgeworth', right?

Your hypothesis is faulty. And I thought you were a man of science.

[The attempt at a joke is awkward, but at least it's an attempt.]

We would need to see another trial fail before we could conclude that this could not be done without me.

[ He laughs at that. ]

You're really terrible at taking compliments, aren't you?

I was not aware that "taking compliments" was a skill of some ilk.

Oh, it is!

Just not testable,

I see. Then I suppose that, indeed, I lack it.

... Hey, it's not such a bad thing, you know. Several people find it endearing.

My complete lack of social graces is "endearing"?

[He glances over at Wayne, hoping the man will interpret it as the apology it sort of is.]

[ He reaches over and puts his hand on Edgeworth's shoulder for a moment before letting it drop back to his side. ]

Definitely.

[ Forgiven, really. He- doesn't hold grudges over things like that. It just makes him a little sad, though

[A slight noise of acknowledgment. He nods, then says quietly:]

I do...apologize. I have a tendency at times to argue what I believe to be right to the point where it seems...rude, perhaps. Where people are offended. It's hard at times to remember not everyone is a lawyer.

[He looks down, fussing with the button on his cuff.]

People are not precisely my strong suit, as it were.

[ He blinks a little, and he shakes his head. ]

I'm terrible at arguing my case. [ Which is actually very true. Bruce can argue ideals, truths- abstract things- but when it comes to arguing in his own defense, he absolutely sucks because he gives up halfway. ]

Don't worry about it. And I mean that.

[Edgeworth shakes his head, grimacing.]

If you think I'm not going to worry about it, you do not know me very well, Mr. Wayne. I've yet to encounter anything about which I do not worry.

[He pulls a face.]

Fortunately I do not. Very fortunately - that would quite render me unable to work. No; it's indigestion I suffer more than anything.
