[ There's no way anyone could've kept him from this place at this moment. Bruce hasn't slept since last night - the Joker's timing is, as always, impeccable - but his eyes are bright and alert, nonetheless. Even if he has to go for the concealer in his disguise kit to hide the shadows under his eyes.

He's here not for support or to gawk - there's enough people for that. He's here simply because he needs to be. There's still the possibility of saboteurs, of AGI going to route that the Falcones and the Maroni did. Bruce had missed Harvey's big trial, and Harvey had gotten hurt. Broken down ( ... )

[ Beside him, Phoenix is leaning forward. Nara. From his position in relation to the trials, his discussions with Shikamaru, standing as his attorney, he's able to discern some element of this being a plan, that Shikamaru was on their side, and it kept him on the edge of his seat throughout the cross-examination, anxious that the AGi lawyers might be seeing through it too.

But he's good, and Phoenix has to try very hard to bite down on his "Yes!" and silence it underneath the other mutterings in the gallery when Shikamaru was allowed to step down. His heart is racing, one hand closed into a tight fist, but they're on good, solid ground after that testimony.

They're going to win. He knows it. ]

Come on. Hold it together just a little longer.

[ Of course he has noticed the man sitting beside him, though he's a little distracted by the feeds and what's going on in front of him. But that cheap blue suit jacket is hard to miss, much less the bright purple-pink tie, and Bruce knows that he's seated right next to Phoenix Wright.

And he knows that if not for Wright's occupation as a defense lawyer- and a good one, given that he managed to wrangle an asylum stay for the Joker rather than going back to prison (which is frankly better, because he's heard whispers of SERO wanting the Joker to work for them instead--)- Wright would've been one of the lawyers cross-examining the witnesses.

So he leans back a little, and raises a hand to tuck his hair back- at the same time adjusting and lowering the volume of his earpiece. ]

You seem excited, Mr. Wright.

[Phoenix leans back, still looking doggishly excited, and glances up at Bruce Wayne as though he's just noticed that he's not alone. He raises a hand, rubbing anxiously at the back of his neck.]

Oops--do I know you?

[Although he seems to know me. That shouldn't be that surprising, though, after all I'm on the NPP, and my name is in Re-l's leaflet. That said--]

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so rude. Phoenix Wright.

[He offers his hand.]

[ He laughs a little. Usually the situation is reversed, that's why Bruce doesn't feel insulted or even the slightest bit embarrassed. ]

I've seen you around the network.

[ He takes the hand. ]

Bruce Wayne. I work with Re-l in the police office. [ That's probably the best way to introduce himself, nowadays that he can't exactly expect people to know his name the moment he said it.

(And really, it does give him a better reputation than he currently deserves. Mayer's reputation is stellar, and her judgment is trusted. That conversation with Armando proves it enough.) ]

Oh, of course.

[He smiles, shaking Bruce's hand and smiling genuinely. His optimism might not last, but since it's holding out for now he may as well make a good impression.]

It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Wayne. So you're a police officer?

[He's wary. Unsure.]

[ And he notices, so he pastes on the most sheepish, harmless smile he has on his arsenal. ]

Oh, no, no, I can't fight in the slightest. [ So says the best martial artist in his world. ] I'm only an engineer, honest.

[ He pauses a little, then looks at the trial- and deliberately lets his smile widen further. ]

They're going to win, aren't they?

Oh right! I knew it was something like that, really, it just--

[Slipped his mind. He leans forward slightly.]

They're going to win. Well, this part of the trial, anyway. Seems to me like there'll have to be a continuation, but with a big thing like this that's not too surprising. They're playing themselves into a strong lead, anyway. Which is... Well, it makes everything that we've been through recently seem worth it. The lives that could be made better...
