Summary: Sharon wakes up to find Break missing. With the disappearances and deaths lately, she doesn't take it well. Break eventually comes home after a night out and finds his young mistress really quite distraught.
Warnings: None!
Even with Liam gone, with Oz gone and Gil…presumed dead (Vincent also - a fact that Sharon was only partly worried about or sorry for), Sharon had mostly been able to sleep well enough through the night. Mostly, it was safe in the knowledge that Break was down the hall and it wouldn't take much to bring him running into her room should she need it. She had, as much as she was loathed to admit weakness, been sticking rather close to Break in the last few days - perhaps stretching out even to weeks - because the idea of being in this place without him wasn't one she could really think on. This house was already too empty without Liam here with them.
Tonight, the combination of the cold and...she didn't really know what, but something woke her, and Sharon found herself putting on a dressing gown, her slippers, and needing to leave the room. For some reason, perhaps it was a dream she couldn't quite remember now that she was awake, the air inside the room seemed stifling, seemed too heavy, and Sharon needed a walk.
As she was returning from the kitchen, a glass of milk in hand, she thought she heard a noise from inside Break's room. Raising her hand and knocking - and getting no answer - Sharon opened the door and peaked inside, calling out his name in case he was awake. Perhaps he could sit with her until she felt tired enough to sleep again.
The only problem was that Break wasn't there. The room was empty - not just of the thing making noise, but completely and utterly empty. Her servant was nowhere in sight. Sharon felt her breath catch, and she almost dropped her glass before she backed out of Break's room, turned around to start searching the rest of the house.
Except for Sharon herself, that too was empty. What had started out as a frantic search for Break ended up with depression, with Sharon curled on the couch, arms wrapped around her legs, hair in disarray, milk untouched.
He's just gone out, she kept telling herself. He's just gone out after Sirens like the stupid man he is, and he will be back soon.
But after Liam and Oz and Gil and Vincent, Sharon wasn't sure how good a job she was doing of convincing herself of that fact. It didn't stop her from staying right where she was on the couch, waiting.
