Oh man! Being in palliative care where we give bedridden, low-intake people MASSIVE doses of opioids, bowels are a big part of my life. Along with the opioids, we give them massive doses of senna, lactulose, docusate sodium, MOM, and (if that doesn't work!) there are glycerin supp and fleet enemas! *oh joy!* We keep on top of things on my unit for obvious reasons but new admits are often rock hard w no BM for days and days, it's so sad (and f-ing annoying for us!).
Sometimes I forget though, that "normal" people get grossed out when you start talking/asking them personal medical stuffs. *haha*
