Would you believe, that I was grown and had to meet several Canadians before I ever knew why these kids said "aboot?" Seriously, I could not figure out what was "wrong" with them! ;-)
i totally never noticed their accents until very recently. i have a bunch of relatives in wisconsin/minnesota/north dakota, so i hear that accent all the time and it never really occurred to me that anything was "different" - just that they all "sounded like uncle chris and aunt sue".
also, i'm totally in love with this whole NaBloPoMo business. that randomizer thing is gold.

um, You Can't Do That On Television is a GREAT subject. I wanted to be on that show sooooooo bad when I was a wee young thing. Alister Gillis was my first crush.
