Hadn't even heard of The Promise, might have to see it if it pops up.
I actually saw Gifted yesterday. I really enjoyed it, yeah it was predictable, but it was well handled, and well acted and it just worked.
I agree about GotG2. It almost got so bogged down with all the jokes that the story didn't get to fully evolve. I had fun watching it, but the first is def better. I did love the soundtrack of this one just as much as the first though.
Well, having a big Armenian family means anything remotely Armenian is brought to your attention so there is that. I really liked it though. I'm going to buy it eventually.
Right. I'm glad you think so because sometimes I think I have an unnatural appreciation for anything Chris does but I really like this whole movie. All the actors did a great job and my favorite moment was with Octavia Spencer in the hospital waiting for the babies. So adorable and how much she approved of him showing Mary how wanted she was. So great.
GotG2 was far too much into jokes than just telling us a good story. I'm sad about it.
I get that. I have a similar thing when it comes to Polish things.
Oh yeah, that whole scene was so lovely. I appreciate Chris too, but outside the Marvel universe I'm not sure there are a lot of his movies I've really liked. For a while there he did seem to get typecast as the male romantic lead, glad he managed to break out of that. I thought he did really well in Gifted.
Me too. After the first one I expected more to be honest. It almost seemed like the script just started out as a bunch of jokes and then they tried to build a story around those.
There is one other I need to see but I'm not sure about it. It is called Before We Go and came out a few years ago. But you are right. Typically I don't like his movies which is what took me so long to appreciate him.
He was in the Nanny Diaries with Scarlett Johansson which I find funny but I wasn't a huge fan of that movie either.
Exactly. So sad because GotG2 had such potential after the first one.
A shame about the Guardians. As you say, the first movie was amazing. The soundtrack is SO AWESOME! And the main song is a song by a swedish old artist that got a bit of a shock when they wanted it and it ended up a hit... AGAIN! X-D
Hooked on a feeling. :-) Was recorded in the 1970's by a band called Blue Swede lead by singer Björn Skifs. He is still active both as a singer and actor and was somewhat surprised at the revival of his old hit. :-D
That has been a big song here for a very long time. I'm pretty sure I've known it all my life and I barely saw the 70s. Of course, it could have been my mom's taste in music.
