Another fic

Hello again!
Although I had a couple of reservations about this, I have decided to write a sequel to my previous fic called 'Normal'. It's called 'Guilt'.

I have also started a third - 'Normal' is from Tosh's POV, this is from Ianto's POV and the third (if I think it's worth finishing) will be from Jack's POV.

Fandom: Torchwood
Title: Guilt
Pairing: ( Read more... )

torchwood, ianto/tosh, jack/ianto, fic

I like your take on the characters. They seem so distant with one another even when they're at their most intimate. It's kind of how it is in real life sometimes. People seem to grow cooler towards others, become more cynical, as time goes by. Gone are the days of brotherly love and trust, because too many rotten apples have taken advantage of that trust, and made people weary to open up and rely on others. That's the feeling I get from Ianto's relationship with Tosh and Jack in this fic. I enjoyed it, even though I felt it lacked warmth. It basically all boiled down to "It's just sex with a dash of friendship." A lot of the fics that you've shared so far seem to have this cynical feel to them (not that I don't love them, because I do love them). Do you have a warm and bubbly Tosh/Ianto/Jack fic? Something so sweet a diabetic would need a shot of insulin to survive it? :P

These are my first attempts at fic, and I was sort of aiming for the tone you described, mainly because when I watch Torchwood, I get the impression nothing could ever actually work between any of them (a la Gwen/Owen).
I think I'm gonna finish this (Jack's POV - which maybe slightly more optimistic?) and try some lighter stuff. My main problem so far has been that I get the idea halfway through an episode, and want to keep it as a sort of 'missing-scene' feel, though I don't know if that works.
Thanks for your comment though, and I am gonna try something lighter hopefully, I'll have more time with the season gaps :(, but I can't promise anything. I'm still finding my feet a bit, and I don't think smut's gonna be my thing (though I may try).

Thanks xx

Smut can be boring, so I wouldn't worry about that if I were you. I mean, there's only so much you can read of that before you're rolling your eyes anyway. If you're a good writer (and I think you really are), then concentrate on a good story. I think your mentions of sex are much more entertaining than long, drawn out scenes of it anyway.

I really enjoyed reading this and having you bring Ianto's thoughts about both Jack and Tosh made it even more fascinating!

This is lovely. It feels very...constrained. You've captured the feeling one gets when keeping a secret from people he is close to.

It's interesting that Ianto feels a sense of pride in the beginning, but you don't really go back to that, which is sad, because that feeling of pride could be very interesting to analyze.

Other than that little nitpick, I enjoyed this greatly.

Brilliant, just brilliant, I am looking forward to reading Jack's POV, and maybe a 'revelation' one where they all realise they've been sleeping with each other, that could be a fairly interesting encounter. You do not need to write smut to make it a 'ship, and you have captured them quite well, I could see this in my head as I was reading it so I can think of no better compliment.

Just one request, write some more!
