I commented with this on dracsdaughter LJ about the last presidential election and figured I would post it on my journal as well:

I, personally loath and hate politics and politicians. It's all based on backstabbing and lying. Not to mention our 'vote' barley even matters. I didn't vote. I don't think I ever will because it will always be picking the lesser of

I responded in my journal.

The only reason I posted about the presidency there was because everyone else had all these negative, apathetic posts about how "it doesn't matter who is President because nothing ever changes and everything sucks."

Things are shot to hell right now. Electing one person isn't going to change all that. But it could tweak things a little bit.

But, hell, last time our country was in full swing a smarmy dude who cheated on the first lady and was renouned for his lying was the President.

I think the fact that my international lj friends (i.e. the two from the UK) both posted enthusiastically about Obama also prompted me. That other countries were watching so intently made me think on how big this was for them, too. And it wasn't just the race thing. The economy dropped here, then it started dropping everywhere else. The invisible threads of global markets have connected us.

Makes me feel fuzzy, if I don't think about how it's all based on money.
