oh my god this was SO good. it's just so clear why billy is scared and why he needs to get the fuck out and why he absolutely cannot give joe the same open love that joe gives him even though he ADORES him and i just feel so bad for both of them and THIS:

He doesn't care that his sweater is ratty and riddled with holes and will smell of smoke and beer until the end of fucking time. He doesn't care that he's probably out of money and they're not going to have smokes or a decent place to sleep, or whisky, or anything that makes any of this fucking worthwhile. Because this is all Joe's ever wanted, and maybe this is what Joe envisioned in Billy's mom's basement after all.

Late to the fucking party (sorry, Joe talking) and I just want to say that this is awesome. The most aromantic romance on the planet. Sorry, I'm a little out of it, that should have been "unromantic" without an alpha privaterum and better spelling. It's just great and Billy has the card in his pocket and it is like starring into the sun.
