Heh... which is why attempting to date a supervillain is so complicated. They try to destroy the world, they disappear without warning, and they never call.

Very nice section with Essex in his past form. Nice tone of regret and longing there.

I'm not too sure how I feel about Rachel at this point - she does seem terribly indecisive and helpless, and I wish she would get her act together. And it seems that, with the Phoenix warning of dire things, she might just have to by the end of this.

Rachel needs to buck up here. She does, in a bit. The problem, canonically, with Rachel? She always puts everyone before herself, but in ways that are just...well, bad. So when she has no one but herself to think of? I think she's kind *clueless*.

That's why I like them together, Rachel and Sinister. She never, ever has to worry about him dying or having to martyr herself on his behalf. He's not worth it. It's weird, but I think it works, for her. Clearly, I spend too much time thinking about these things.

And seriously, dating Essex would be like, "Ah...sweetie? That body in the basement...?"

When I saw Chapter Ten posted I thought wait, where's nine? so I had to go back and find it.

You did a spectacular job with the chapter. It's unbelievably erotic and titillating, but it's also brilliantly emotional as well. This Sinister may be evil, but he's also human -- something you've shown very well throughout the course of this story.

Without the slow lead in, this coupling wouldn't have been nearly as satisfying ... because it's significantly more than fucking between them.

I've been doing a little bit of Sinister reading, and tripping through the Wiki pages so I have some understanding of the dynamics. You're tempting me, you know.
