One of the things I've come to realize is that I really need some negative spaces. Periods of silence, reflection, aloneness, whatever. I don't need only those and they don't have to be super dramatic; on the Japan CHP trip they would often take the form of listening to a song or two by myself before falling asleep. I have a hard time throwing things away, but I also (historically) have a hard time using things up. These are related problems. Because I tend to think, "Oh, I can use that later." or "Oh, I can fix that to be just perfect for this application." or "I should save this for something that really justifies it ( Read more... )
