She's hurt and angry and is seeking revenge, and she's getting it by publically shaming them. Even if she doesn't win the lawsuit, they have still been punished by the court of public opinion.
The only way she'd have a leg to stand on as far as suing Facebook goes, is if she did report the abuse. But how many bullied teens do YOU know who report that they are being bullied????
Chances are that she never reported it to Facebook. And as huge as Facebook is, are they really to be held responsible for checking EVERY post made by EVERY member in EVERY forum? Owww. The logistics of that task make my brain hurt.
Parents of bullies make my brain hurt too.
Except the iffiness of suing facebook for something that bullies posted, I completely agree with your response.

since this was a private group created by the bullies, all she would have had to do was report the group itself (and perhaps the members themselves) as violating the "thou shalt not use the service to abuse, harass, etc" rule of the TOS.
while many don't report it, plenty of teens DO report bullying--the problem lies with parents/schools who do nothing or blame the victim. and in this case, facebook.
personally if sites aren't going to do the checking, they have no business making such rules.
