i am thinking they are referring to the little sandwich cracker six packs made by Little Debbie. you know, the crackers are cheese flavored with PB layer inside?

or do they not have such in my ancestral homeland?

No, man. Peanut butter comes in a jar and you put it on toast or maybe in a sandwich. That is the limit of its powers (well, apart from chicken satay, but definitely no cheese flavoured crackers).
