Amen.

I have had a hankering to comment to defend or inform, but have held back for the same reasons you experienced. I have had to choke on my own eye rolls, but I've kept the peace. I'm not sure which is better/worse? Anyway, their response is a mirror of themselves, not you. I'm a fan of diplomacy, myself, and at least prefer to listen and reflect.
My brother, on Facebook, has a snarky comment on EVERY political posting on fb and he comes off so arrogant. He is not my favorite sibling, and we are not close, so I have just kept on scrolling.
I do hate having to defend everything we say/feel no matter what "side" you're on. Not that I believe there's sides, it's more experience, as you've stated. If only we all came to realize that our views are based on our life experiences and technically everyone is biased. We are all (I was going to say "snowflakes" but that has been used as a derogatory thing lately) unique individuals with a unique point of view that wants to be heard - now if we'd all listen as well.

I think I hear what you're saying. Communication is challenging at times, and emotions can mix into it all. However, I do have issues when people have "opinions" about things that one cannot have opinion about. It seems to be rampant and it can be annoying. We see through the filters of our own experiences, but our experiences are not related to statistical facts, and for some reason, people seem to think one can have an opinion on ANYthing. It's for the crazy-making. lol

I think people just honestly like to argue. When someone sees me wearing a Bruins shirt, or Scott's Pats hoodie and they will say something to start a conversation, which is generally not positive, and I'll say "I really don't care about football/I only follow Bruins hockey.." They don't want to continue, if they're a Bruins fan, they do, but if they see that I don't care if they talk shit, then it goes away. I rarely feel like people approach me wanting a legit conversation, they just want to argue. Which sucks. Maybe I want to talk about stuff!
