No no no. I'm just saying- the engine looks good. We can move it to another ship and get out of here. [He was walking backwards so he could smile and gesture at HAL and just look SO EARNEST and reasonable.]

The engine is almost completely part of the ship. How are you going to get it out, and where are you going to find another ship? [HAL is walking forward in a robotic manner, which makes sense given his body. He seems to be presing his feet a little to hard into the floor, curling his toes so they press in just as hard.]

[ SUDDENLY, Grid. Grid everywhere. She launches out of her hiding space on the ceiling and latches onto Virgil and starts spewing her hot gooey load of spit all over him. ]

[Virgil steps back instinctively, reaching for a gun that's not there and coming up with his plasma cutter. No damage can be done unless he can manage to hit her with it and as he's finding it hard to move away from the wall, it doesn't seem likely to happen. The thin layer over his eye hardens first and he finds himself with a xeno-spit eyepatch. He eats the sticky horrible mess around his mouth before it can harden because HEAVEN FORBID HE BE UNABLE TO SPEAK]

[N'tho is stalking along a walkway, looking rather wary and hunched a bit just in case he suddenly has to move. He doesn't trust this place. Stupid space station. Nothing's jumped him so far, so maybe this isn't so bad...?]

[ The smell of an unfamiliar species is what attracted the xenomorph to the walkway. Now she's stalking the strange creature, crawling along the wall near the ceiling, darting from shadow to shadow. Occasionally a fat drop of drool splatters on the walkway behind him. ]

[N'tho is not used to his problems coming from above. Most things are smaller than him, and or groundbound. He does, however, get this odd feeling something is following him. He stops and turns, but there's nothing there.]

[Except that stuff. What is that?]

[ There's a particularly large splat directly in front of him, but should he choose to look up she'll already be gone--she's trying to stay in what she judges is his blind spot, aka above and behind him. ]

Today was a nice day.

There were many new smells. Not as many as the place where he had been with Joe, but many. Dug was enjoying his walk through the grass. It smelled very interesting.

So interesting, in fact, that he was completely oblivious to everything around him.

Grid did not personally have any experience with dogs, but genetic memory was a wonderful thing. Her ancestors knew dogs made decent, if small, brood hosts, so Grid did as well. If if that knowledge hadn't been passed along, he was of a sufficient body mass to serve her purpose.

Which was why Grid was slinking low along the ground behind the dog, trying to get as close as she possibly could without alerting it to her presence.

There was something in the dirt. Something that was moving and small. It was wiggling and Dug mashed his nose against it. It continued wiggling, so he ate it. It was not delicious.

Dug was so absorbed in eating his earthworm that he hardly noticed the ominous shadow creeping up behind him. When he did, he merely turned to look at the shape across the grass and sniffed its edge.

It did not smell different or interesting.
