John was feeling weird. Not the weird where you don't know what's going on - well. He always kind of felt like that, he supposed. But this was a weird feeling, like the hairs on the back of his head standing on end. Say what you want... but that?

That was weird.

And every once in a while he had the oddest suspicion someone was.

"John? Hey, uh. Uh. John? Are you okay?"

Vriska's voice pulled him out of his... daze? Was that it? She sounded worried. Was she in trouble? He should probably help her. Definitely help her. His voice comes out as he starts to try and follow Vriska's voice to find her.

"Hey, Vriska! Is something wrong? Need my help or anything?"

"Oh, thank Jegus. Um. No! No help needed!" Vriska offered an unconvincing smile as she caught sight of John. In one piece. Totally not being eaten in any way. "You know me! Always on top of things. And not in need of help. Ever."

(There. He's right there. Won't you be a sweetheart and send him my way? I'm so, so, soooooooo hungry...)

"I mean why would I, uh. Why would I need help. Don't be dumb, Egbert."

(I've never eaten human before, darling. Just a single bite?)

Vriska swallowed, smoothing her hair back to try and calm herself down. This was silly. Totally not happening. She just needed more sleep, that was all. "I'm. I'm fine. Are you fine? You better be. Haha. Ha."

Vriska didn't sound okay. That's for sure. Sure, about 90% of the time she had stuff under control but. This didn't seem like one of those times. She seemed worried - which meant something was wrong which mean he should help -

"Me? Oh yeah. I'm fine, completely. Just, y'know. You need my help I'm ready and willing. Just say the word."

Of course, the truth was he felt like shivering. He blinked and thought he saw - something. Something dark dart behind Vriska- no. This was silly. They were the only two in the apartment - had all this stuff always been here? It seemed like he was looking at the apartment for the first time in a while. That was dumb though, right? What was with hi- no. Can't focus on that now, Vriska needs help. Or seemed like it. Which was good enough for him.

"But yeah, I'm totally fine. But I'll help if you need any sort of help."

For a second, Vriska's strained smile was replaced with a far more genuine one. "Bluh. Always with the helping. I mean. Not that that's a bad thing. Obviously, uh..."

(Seeeeeeee? The boy wants to help you. Let him help us.)

And the smile was gone again, Vriska's horror only compounded by how skeeved-out John suddenly seemed. Had he heard? Oh god no. Please, no. She glanced back over her shoulder warily. "What? Did you see som--"

(I'm staaaaaaaarving! Don't you love your mother? Just one meal and I'll be quiet, dearest, that's all I ask! One!)

Squeezing her eyes shut, Vriska clamped her hands over her ears. "Shut up shut up SHUT UP!"

Sollux popped out of the teleporter and hovered there, anxious and impatient as he waited for Obi-Wan and his "escort" to get there. Fuck, every second was feeling like an eternity. Where were they? Didn't they know time was precious?

The fact that something here just felt wrong wasn't helping. Fuck, his friends were in danger, possibly going crazy and trying to kill him and he had to sit and wait for-

He took a deep, shuddering breath, focusing his energy and trying to draw his power back down under his skin. No, he had to settle down. If his mind wasn't calm, if he wasn't in that relaxed frame, she'd get to him and then everything would go wrong. Couldn't let that happen. Had to save them. Had to get away from here.

Obi-Wan wasn't particularly late, but he came through faster than Three-eight, who'd likely been on a separate vector in the same direction. While the Teleporter finished its cooldown behind him, he gave Sollux a calm nod and dropped a marble-sized disk from his belt onto the ground- a beacon.

If what he understood about the way death and the teleporters functioned was correct, then they would need the warning.

We will politely ignore Sollux's quite freak-out; it isn't polite to point out the weakness in others before it becomes trouble. His own presence in the Force, he knew, was placid with that pre-battle stillness. Let what will come, come. He was ready.

Three-Eight felt n edge, but he'd dealt with pre-combat jitters before. Everyone did. This was a bit different though. It was almost a crawling sensation under his skin, a slight headache pounding away at the back of his skull that bacta and painkillers did nothing to drive away. But he was focused. He had a mission and he had orders - and he'd carry them out no matter what the personal cost.

He was a few minutes behind Obi-Wan. The trooper materialized on the transporter pad and stepped down, carbine held in a ready position. He snapped off a quick salute to the General and gave the odd alien kid a nod. "Three-Eight reporting, sir."

"Okay." Sollux sucked in a deep breath, tamping down the nervousness. Fucking hell, he could do this, he could so do this. It was important shit, and he had to be the stable one because Vriska and John probably couldn't be if that psycho episode she'd had was any indication.

He pointed, beginning to float himself in the proper direction - easier than running, far more convenient for a blind kid. "That'th the direction we're going in. There are two people we're aiming to get out. One'th a troll like me. The hath mind control powerth, they work on me thometimeth but I don't think they work the thame on alienth." He cast a sidelong glance to Obi-Wan and his...subordinate? Whatever. "The other'th a human boy. He can manipulate air - well, wind, really. Both of them can fly. I don't know how rethithtent he'th going to be to getting out of here."

He bit his lip. "There may altho be a giant thpider that eatth people in the area. I don't know if Vrithka wath halluthinating her mom being here."
