York isn't afraid of the dark-- nothing like it, of course, he's spent enough time in it to never have that fear, but it doesn't stop him from being irritated all the same. No amount of fiddling with the generators or anything mechanic has actually done any good, which is endlessly frustrating.
He explores, of course- has to, can't really just stand around and hope that this all goes away, so he does look around at the buildings around, picking up the device when he finds it, only to freeze when he reads that.
There's unease, of course, but the first thing he does is pick up his own device, and send Sarah a voice message, frowning.
Delta nods, comfortable with an acknowledgment and somewhat pleased that she bothered to ask his advice at all. Countless individuals still saw AI as merely tools, even in his own world, and he was not unused to such treatment. York, of course, was different; but then, that was a consequence of working together so closely for so many years.
It was difficult to forget someone had emotions when you could feel them as clearly as your own, after all.
"Would you prefer an escort, or would you like us to search in a different direction?"
Sarah frowns, considering. Splitting up would mean faster progress, but...
"We should stick together. There's a lot of ground to cover, but I think we're better off in groups for the moment. At least until we get a better handle on what's going on."
Never mind that exploring on her own is exactly what she's been doing all day; that's totally different than sending York out without backup.
Awesome, phone didn't send my tag. howkickassiamNovember 3 2010, 01:01:17 UTC
He feels more comfortable, not splitting up, anyway. Better not to leave her on her own, just in case. It's not out of sexism, or any sort of belief that she can't deal with herself, but because he's not sure just what the hell is out there, really.
"Works for me," York says easily, nodding just a little bit.
Plus, the fact that she didn't mind them tagging along- didn't mind Delta tagging along, is welcome.
And with that he flashes out again, though as always he's still there with York. It's not necessary to project his hologram to analyze, or even to interact - he does it out of courtesy to humans, who feel more comfortable with a focal point of conversation.

Sarah still looks a little unsettled at the way Delta pops in and out, but she doesn't comment, just checks the clip on her gun and then gives the room one last look-over. There's nothing much to see, other than the device and the strange holograms.

She doesn't seem to upset by it, though, so York doesn't do anything about it, glad to have Delta in his head in the current environment, especially, considering.
"All green, ready to go," York answers with a sharp nod, shoulders straight.
Not saying it wouldn't, but I don't see her getting really pleased about it. Not that he doesn't still want to know, but he's really, really hoping whatever it is they find doesn't make it so she's even more frustrated or upset with them.
"On it," York says easily, nodding at her; he's a little flattered, really, that she trusts them to do that much.
He keeps a little to her right, using her to fill his blind spot on his left, and keeps an eye on the motion tracker, while he's at it.
Sarah checks the hallway, but it's just as empty as it has been all day.
She moves quickly to the next room, scanning the space ahead of her as she goes. She doesn't even dare look back long enough to make sure York's still with her. Paranoid? Probably, but even if you got her to admit it, she'd still choose paranoia over getting overly comfortable, and possibly getting killed.
Sarah stops inside the doorway to the next room.
"You hear something?"
Either she's going crazy, or there's music playing.

Sarah? Hey. Where are you--
Uh.
How are you doing?

If there are more of these, York, it would be beneficial to find them.

"I haven't seen any metal since this started, but we should be alert. I wouldn't trust Hypatia's drones, at this point."
She checks her weapon again and then goes to the door, glancing back at York.
"I'll go first, you watch my back."
