[Pros: Shelter, probably nicer than the newbie barracks. Proximity to someone who seems to know what's going on. Possibly the one person she can count on not to turn on her, seeing as she is her.

Cons: It could always be a trap. She works better on her own. She's not convinced her double won't be entirely disgusted and/or skeeved out by seeing herself like this. She's not entirely convinced that being in the same place as her double won't break spacetime. Like that's unusual for Aperture Science.

She doesn't normally second-guess herself like this, but this is hardly a normal situation.

Chellbot knocks on the door.]

[The knock is like a gunshot in the dead apartment complex, and it takes her by surprise even though she's been expecting it all this time. She's become so used to the unnatural stillness and quiet of the station. It reminds her uncomfortably of home the Enrichment Center. (She misses the hustle and bustle of the back areas of the facility, the sound of cubes being shuttled around in the Pneumatic Diversity Vents above. That place was more alive than anywhere else she'd been.)

She checks the peephole (you can never be too careful, after all) and opens the door.

Hello there, other self. Would you like to come in?]

apologies for the tinytag rebuildscience July 21 2011, 00:27:20 UTC
[Seeing herself on camera was odd, but seeing her double in person is downright surreal. Chellbot stares at her for just a little too long to be polite before going in.]

[Not that Chell 1.0 particularly cares. Or notices. (What am proper socialization?) She's staring right back at her robot counterpart as they head in.

The apartment is decidedly... spartan. The place is pretty much bare, save for a few pretty flowers in plain vases and interesting rocks she'd found while outside. Needless to say, she has zero interior decorating skills (it's not like that was something she was ever tested on), but she likes it. It's just a place to sleep, anyhow.

DO YOU LIKE IT??? :Da]

welp, hope it's all right? /o\ dx1118c July 20 2011, 20:39:16 UTC
[walking is boring and slow, but he's trying to keep a low profile, no matter how frustrating it might be at times, and there's no crowd here he'd have to avoid--

not on the streets for sure, but it seems in the air? there are. at least kind of.

he hears her before he sees her (coming right at him, fast, no less), the sound of a something (a body) ripping through air. in part it's Alex's paranoid nature, in part it's having had to watch out for missles, Hunters, Super Soldiers and other crazy shit like that for the entire length of his new life (all of three weeks, really) that triggers his instinctive reaction, which is to protect himself. his body reacts accordingly and his side, facing the thing-- person-- woman? falling right at him, rearranges itself into a shield instantly.

he's definitely not the sort to catch a random falling lady, plus blame it on the element of surprise. maybe he would have considered a different reaction, if he didn't have mere seconds to decide.]

NOOOOO I mean yes. Sorry for the delay! halfquake July 22 2011, 06:16:44 UTC
[shit shit shit brace for impact

Chell slams into the shield and bounces off almost comically. Thanks to the Long Fall Boots, she lands on her feet, although bruised to hell and back and definitely winded.

There's a moment where just blinks, dazed and in pain, and then she shakes it off and goes to investigate the man she just fell on.

Are you okay?]

sorry for the delay too ;; dx1118c July 25 2011, 19:16:29 UTC
[Alex is hardly sorry, as far as he's concerned it's her own fault, really. he quickly pulls back the shield, reshaping his arm back into its normal state and hopes she didn't pay attention to it--

keeping low-profile, that's not how it fucking works. yes, he's definitely cursing himself inwardly. but it was either that, or get smashed to the ground, which... wouldn't work out too great for him either.

though he does have the decency to at least stick around to see if she's all right, the same way she does apparently-- if without words? Confusing. He rolls his arm, stretching it, as if to check if it's all right (of course it is). then he nods at her.]

Nothing broken?
