Um, okay, so I was wondering if anybody else was religious at all? [ hopeful smile ]It's just, I usually go to Mass on Sundays, and I've been having a little mini-Mass for myself since I got here, but it just doesn't feel the same without other people, and I was wondering if any church service-like things had been set up ( Read more... )

If you're asking people about religions outside of Catholicism, you may want to ask if anyone is familiar with multifaith services as well.

Hm, that's not a bad idea! It's not quite the same as going to mass, but pretty much nothing IS going to be here, you know?

[He'd say yes but then he's still kinda/sorta struggling with his faith and hasn't really come to a conclusion on where he stands yet.]

I haven't heard of any. But then there's a lot of the station that I haven't seen yet.

What does your mass entail?

Mass is... well, there are hymns, and prayers, and recitations, and the priest gives a sermon, and communion.

I see.

[He considers it for a moment. It sounds similar to what the colonials did.]

And what is communion?

OH, well... technically it's just a bite of a cracker and a sip of consecrated wine. But it's supposed to symbolise the body and blood of Christ, who died for our sins. The priest blesses you, and you take communion.

...I'm really not very good at explaining my religion. [ sheepish ]

Funny. I haven't made a habit out of mass since I got out of Catholic school. And here...

Just doesn't seem important.

[Bullshit, Ray. You still hold on to that crucifix and photograph in your flat.]

[ This is the look of the utterly comfortable and confident. Buffy's faith is strong! ]

Well, isn't that nice for you. But just because you don't consider it important doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way.

Heh. Sorry. I didn't mean for it to come out that way.

[Mostly.]

Hope that doesn't completely opt me out for mini-Mass.

[ laughs ] Well, mini-Mass mostly consists of me saying the Lord's Prayer, the De Profundis, whatever Psalm or recitation I can remember off the top of my head, and saying my rosary. Not really exciting.

Religion?

notthatbuffy December 5 2011, 19:22:33 UTC
Um... Yeah! It's... when people believe in a God or Goddess and worship them.

Oh! I've never heard that word used for it...but thank you!

You're welcome! I mean, religion is usually the organised worship of the god or goddess in question. Not just worshipping them in general. But yeah.

I know not of your Catholicks or Minimas, but I follow the Green Pact as devoutly as any Bosmer should.

[ curiously ]

What's the Green Pact?

[A slight wince. Heathens.]

Men such as yourself seem fond of distilling it down to 'Bosmer only eat meat'. Though that only encompasses the Meat Mandate part of the Pact! We are also forbidden to cut the wood of our homeland.

No cathlicking or masses are involved.

There's a Meat Mandate in your religion.

[ legitimately curious about this, actually ]
