I know that they don't do that. Obviously, if they did, I would have been gone ages ago. Still, I thought since you just came, testing them now would be worth a try.

I can at least offer speculation on some of that. The rift seems to favor certain worlds. For instance, the world that the trolls are from, and the world the Spartans and the other armored people are from. So it seems that, the more people we have from a particular world we have here, the more likely we are to get more from that world. I think you're right in assuming the "door" is more open. It seems like the rift is trying to establish permanent links, but it can't quite do it. So more people from particular worlds end up arriving here.

But does it only work one way? Are people not more likely to be sent home if their rift door has been "opened" far enough by more and more people coming in from the same place?

...I really have no idea. It's hard to keep accurate records on disappearances since they happen so quietly, and sometimes people come back.

I see a lot of people posting about disappearances of their friends, though. Someone should start keeping track.
