[Have the sound of restless pacing in the background, as well as the background behind the freelancer moving as he looks into the wearable. Someone is more than a little upset. In fact, he's trying to keep from outright panicking.]Where is he? Damn you, where is Epsilon? I need him. They won't shut up. I can filter out most of the memories ( Read more... )

[Man, he really wishes there was something he could do.

--Though it can't hurt to ask, Delta supposed.]

Is there any way I may help, Agent Washington?

Need Epsilon back, Delta. Need him. Can't keep all of them quiet... The ones left after the other me's advice just get louder and more hostile.

Have to find him. Before it gets worse. Before I really start losing control. They're angry.

[There's a long sigh.]

If there were a way to retrieve him without further damage to yourself, I would be extremely happy to assist. However, given your current mental state, you are ill-prepared to confront the other version of yourself.

... [ he stares. this is really quite disturbing for him, considering he just came out of another wave of AI withdrawal. only problem was that he didn't have his AI there to balance it out. ]

If you don't settle down, I'm gonna have to go find you and beat some sense into you, sweetheart.

You don't understand. They're talking to me. They won't shut up. They tell me to do things. I can't quiet them. He could.

I need him back.

No, I do understand. That's called an AI remnant and I have them too. Just not as extreme. [ he looks thoughtful for a moment... ]

What about a replacement? A substitute, if you will.

They won't leave me alone. Won't stop talking. Kill. Destroy. Get him back. And the constant growling... Need Epsilon to stop them.

[Suspicion] What the hell do you mean by a substitute?

Hey, you ever consider rehabilitation? [Because you are wigging the fuck out. And no, no pity. As far as he's concerned this is kinda like how you'd deal with a drug addict's withdrawal symptoms. DO NOT GIVE IN...]

I do not need rehab, Church. I need my partner back where he belongs. Where he wants to be.

So he can go nuts in your head again? Sure, that sounds like an awesome idea. Hey, let's call up that other AI chick, Hypatawhatever. You guys can share stories on how fun it is to have a breakdown.

Make a date of it or something. [:/]

Mine never went nuts in my head, Church. Mine was just fine. [Ignoring evidence on the network of otherwise.]

AI Epsilon. My partner.

He was taken from me by another version of me, after the guy put a bullet in my head.

Calm down, son. I realize the strain of having your AI missing is a large one, but you'll certainly be less help finding him if you're so disgruntled.

[Washington actually flinches, reacting like a scolded dog. He might be able to easily kill the Director in the situation they're in, since the Director lacks the support he had at home, but habit is hard to break It's easy to decide the cut ties when the one you've been obeying blindly so long isn't there. Not so much when he's looking at you.]

Sorry, sir. I'm trying to hold myself together, but it's difficult.

I understand.

[ No, actually, he doesn't, but if he can get your trust then he's sure he'll be able to. ]

I'm going to be asking the Spartans for assistance regarding your double's-- ah, theft, of your partner.

Thank you, sir.

Though I would like to note that Epsilon hasn't exactly been anything less than an asshole to the Spartans here in the past... They were willing to help with the Meta in spite of his attitude though.
