Hello again, Sacrosanct.

[And here's Charles, looking just so entirely harmless and dapper it's practically an art-form.]I'm entertaining a brief curiosity - are we doing anything for the children come Halloween? I'm not certain how other cultures interpret October's end, but where I'm from the little ones sort of dress in costumes and bribe ( Read more... )

Costumes and candy? Mm, folks've gotten so paranoid in the 21st century...

Doesn't sound like a bad idea. There that many kids though? Aside from the trolls, but I don't think they celebrate.

Paranoid? How so, officer?

[it's the 60s, dudebro. Cut him some slack.]

I don't think the number of children should matter, honestly. They suffer a great deal more than the rest of us, so if an opportunity presents itself to make them happy, even for a short time, I believe we should act on it.

All those stories about poisoned candy and flammable outfits. And all your neighbors want to abduct your children, apparently. People got extremely antsy after a few decades.

[Is he a little surprised that Charles seemed to miss that song and dance routine he had? Of course. But he can just barrel on through it.]

Truth. Might not be too bad f'r the rest of us, either.

People poisoning candy?

[OH MY GOD HUMANS THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS FUUUU]

Trust me, there'll be none of that here.

[his tone basically carries an 'OR ELSE'.]

Indeed not, my friend. How have you been?

It's all a myth, really. Except for the flammable thing. People are just... extremely nervous.

[read: HUMANS ARE HUGE COWARDS]

I wouldn't worry overly much, though some people here... seem more interesting in the 'tricking' part. Don't expect it'd be anything fiendish.

[Though... he's starting to consider just what he should do for this. Hrm...]

Been well, all things considered. Glad that... singin' business is over, really. Things should settle down a bit, hopefully.

They are, I'll not deny it. You must see a great deal of it in your line of work, mm?

Were you afflicted by the singing, Officer?

A lot of it, yes. [All that running and screaming when he so much as pops a couple mechanical bits out...]

I was, a little. Wouldn't worry too much about it, though. I managed t'mostly keep it to myself.

[It's so much easier when he's using half-truths.] Were you, Charles?

[Charles ducks his head.]

Only a little. I did an impromptu poetry recital or... two, but I managed to keep my nonsense off the network. I expect my sister filmed the entire thing, however. Have you ever read 'I Didn't Win Light in a Windfall'?

Poetry recital or two?
[He chuckles.]
Almost sorry I missed out on that. And I can't say I've read it, unfortunately. Not... particularly up on poetry.

Or two. Possibly three. Potentially five, but beyond that I'm not sure my dignity could weather the admission.

Well, a man in your line of work has other things to worry about. But, that said, I believe I might have a copy laying about if you'd like to brush up on the classics, mm?

I'll try t'spare your dignity from admitting it then, I think. I'm sure admitting to three is more than enough.

Never hurts to catch up on classics. Expand the knowledge base and everything. If you do have a copy, think I would like to take a read.
