[The video feed opens to reveal an extreme close-up of one brown eye, rimmed with what one could not be blamed for assuming is black eyeliner. Jack is muttering to himself under his breath, but he's close enough that his words are picked up easily.]

You are standing in what was once the "nearest port" on this station.

[Somehow, he doubts that is what you are looking for.]

Nearest bar is located [the map pops up on Jack's wearable and several locations are highlighted] as seen.

[Oh hello disembodied voice. There's no picture on the screen, so obviously this isn't a real person talking to him.

Well, Jack is more than used to holding conversations with the voices inside his head.]

So she stole the ocean too, did she?

[He brightens up at the map, though, once he figures out what he's looking at.]

Excellent! Aaah, you've been much more helpful than most hallucinations I've had the misfortune to encounter.

Not that - encountering you is a misfortune, if this map is to be believed.

[Well, now you know how he felt when he used to talk to his User so. There.]

Not an oceanic port.

[...]

That is only the nearest Zone. There are many other locations of the same nature on the station as well. The map on the wearable can be expanded and rearranged to show more as warranted.

Is there any other kind worth mentioning?

[What are these zones you speak of. All he's getting from this is that there are lots and lots of bars. And that can only be a good thing.]

Let's see all of them, then.

Space ports.

Affirmative. [the map expands to show two more adjacent zones with all the appropriate highlights; then it expands again a few seconds later to show the entire station with the appropriate highlights dotting the entire structure]

Suggest use of teleportation devices if roaming far from initial Zone. Higher quality establishments will require credits to gain access.

Ah yes...of course.

[Now he's getting a little unsettled. A...whatever this place is floating in space is impossible, but everyone keeps saying it.

Wherever they are, though, there's clearly a lot of it. Jack looks up from his scrutiny of the map (glancing up and to the left of his shoulder, where he assumes the hallucination is coming from), confused.]

Teleportation?

[Sound is definitely coming from the same place as the map, sorry Jack.]

Instant transportation from one location to another. There are several teleportation platforms located throughout the station for convenient use.

[But hallucinations live in the air. Everyone knows that.

Jack's silent for a long moment, considering this.]

...That's impossible.

[And impossible is a word he doesn't say often.]

Try it for yourself. [If you can figure out the controls. In fact, he is almost certain you won't be able to--so he sends a packet of instructions that pop up on the screen.]

[Jack frowns, silently studying the instructions that appear on the screen.

But, well. Say what you will about his hallucinations, they've rarely steered him wrong.]

I'm trusting you, mate.

[He turns, jabbing a finger at thin air, the cautioning expression on his face completely wasted. And then he walks toward the teleporter, carefully following the instructions to program in a destination and stepping through.]

[Rinzler rumbles quietly as he waits, unmoved either way by the man's trust. If he followed the instructions correctly then the pirate is safely at a new destination. If not...

Whelp.

Hopefully it just didn't work at all.]

[The doors swoosh open and Jack steps forward cautiously, sticking his head out and peering first in one direction, then the other.

This...is definitely a different place than where he'd been a moment ago.

He steps out, still looking around as if expecting the landscape to vanish at any moment, turning back to stare at the teleporter, then forward again, until he's finally convinced.]

How did you do that.

The teleportation technology is advanced. I could send you files containing theories and mathematical speculations but I do not have the specs for the teleportation devices on hand.

[Jack recoils slightly, waving his hands in a vague attempt to shoo the offer of math away.]

More of a practical man than a theoretical one, myself.

[Thus:]

It works like that every time?

[This is the face of a man who's just discovered a wonderful new toy and whose mind is already overflowing with plans for how best to put it to use.]

How fascinating.
