[ Here are some lines of Unix. You've probably never heard of it, more underground than the random lines of code you see in mainstream Hollywood. how does computer ]

[ After that impressive but ultimately unnecessary display of Unix, there’s momentary radio silence before whatever was trying to get into the system activates the audio function. That ( Read more... )

[Rinzler catches this new network ID and first post a little later than usual, but that's not what stops him from responding right away. There are a lot of other reasons for that.

Instead, Rinzler keeps a steady eye on the other conversations to get as much information out of this post as possible.]

[Flynn's conversation provides too little, Tron's too much, and the other programs' fill in the blanks. More or less.

Rinzler's processor rolls over a sea of complex emotions ranging from surprise to panic, from regaining control to an impassive observer, and then from confused to downright gleeful for the way Tron is treated. Still, he can't settle for one emotion over the others and eventually arrives back at something caught between confused and flighty.

His first attempt at a response isn't all that decisive. All that records is the deep, steady rumbling white noise for a few minutes before cutting off.]

[Only a few minutes later to return.

After studying the User's reactions so far he decides to be prudent--and treat this as any other newcomer. Impassive and formal.]

Welcome to Sacrosanct, User.

The coding for the wearables is different than what you are used to. View [this attachment that pops up right here] the instructions for further explanation. There is also a map, a job listing, and various games and other useful programs [/wry] accessible from the main menu of the device.

Program: Anon has already explained the situation adequately. User: Flynn [he says the name with obvious distaste] will explain anything else you may be missing.

[Okay. Mostly impassive and formal.]

[ That was a far cry from the last program he talked to using his voice. It was guttural, deeper and almost...violent, but Alan recognized his own voice bubbling just under the surface. He checks, then double checks--nope, not the "Tron" he spoke with earlier. And we've established there isn't a program mimicking the user's voice. ]

Thank you, I appreciate the attachment. Who should I be thanking, exactly?

[ That Tr slipped by Alan, just barely and only because it went without saying he had a lot on his mind. ]

Rinzler. Request, who is your user?

I serve CLU. He overthrew the User's rule.

[ Well that doesn't sound ominous. ]

I'm sorry- but CLU? Codified Likeness Utility, Flynn's old program? Didn't think overthrowing the odd phone bill tweak was high on a program's list of priorities.

[Pause. Searching references... found.]

Wrong version.

CLU is the administrator of the Grid. He is in charge of making it a perfect System.

I'm just starting to come around to the idea there was a second version to begin with, forgive me.

[ Perfect, there was that word again. ]

Shouldn't Flynn have that title? He didn't look all that overthrown when I saw him.

[Rinzler rumbled acceptance to the first statement--and just as quickly changed pitch to anger whenever Flynn was mentioned.]

He ran away as a coward would. He refused to fight and hid. How noble of a Creator is that? CLU was right to free us from his illogical sets.

I know Flynn, he could have been gone god knows where for twenty years, or twenty thousand years--but the last thing Kevin Flynn is, is a coward.

Our triumphs and failures are measured by our children. If you can grasp that concept, Rinzler.
