Details, before I forget

This won't be my last LASIK post, but it will be the longest (unless my eyes explode, in which case I'll write a really long complaint after buying a Braille keyboard). Here I describe my entire experience for posterity's sake.

Morning of the ProcedureI had a dental appointment at 10am, and it only takes one minute to walk to my dentist's office ( Read more... )

Congrats. I've looked into this and was told 3000 PER EYE by my ophthalmologist. Not happening.

So, where did you go? and what did you pay?

I paid 6K. Originally $7,900, but I got a $1600 VSP discount and $300 referral discount.

Had it done at Pacific Vision Institute by Dr. Ella Faktorovich, who's supposedly the best of the best in the Bay Area. Tens of thousands of procedures under her belt, and they have the best equipment, too.

Thanks for writing this up - I have AWFUL vision, and go back and forth about LASIK all the time. I'm glad it was a such a positive experience for you!

You're quite welcome, and thank you :)

If you go back and forth all the time, my recommendation would be to get a consultation, if you haven't done so already. At least then you'd know if you're a candidate (and can put the matter to rest if you aren't), and if so, which procedure is best for you. There are, like, at least half a dozen different refractive surgery procedures available, and my whole brain would fall out if I had to research all of them.
