Consumer Whorgasm

I love how sometimes the universe kicks you in the face at the most face-kickingest moment possible. Like last Friday, when my 4.5-year-old Dell laptop died not one minute after I'd just spent eight hours reformatting its hard drive and reinstalling software.

Fortunately, there's a consolation...

My iBook hard drive crapped out about four hours after I'd signed for the box containing my new external drive, but before I had actually put anything on the back-up drive. I can think of no reason it could have happened just then except spite.

Then I bought a well-behaved MacBook with which to dry my tears.

Ouch.

I plan to get an external drive soon (or a Time Capsule when they ship next month) so I can use Time Machine.

My computer may be new, but I still feel like it's barebacking to have no backup.

YAY! Welcome, fellow Mac-ian to our side! The brighter, better side!

Whats UNIX line command? Maybe it's just too much for a comment reply :)

And hey - on another topic - sorry for erroneously sending you texts intended for someone next to you in my address book. That must have seemed like it came out of left field!

UNIX is an old OS renown for its stability and robustness. By itself it doesn't have a GUI (graphical user interface), so you'd perform tasks with simple yet powerful text commands.

Mac OS X was actually completely different from previous Mac OSes in that it was redesigned to be built on top of UNIX. So, it has the nice Mac GUI, yet underneath you can still open a terminal window and, oh, say, delete all files with a certain extension in a folder and all subfolders, with one command. It's like having the looks of a supermodel and the brains of a quantum physicist.

sorry for erroneously sending you texts...

Nah, no prob. I can tell when I'm not the intended recip ;)

Nope. Solid backgrounds look consistent, and photos look the same when I move them from the top of the screen to the bottom.

I can see that guy's problem in the video, although complaining that the colors change when he moves the viewing angle is ridiculous. That's the nature of every LCD display, at least to some degree.
