Eddie hit the compound at a dead run, his pants still unbuttoned though he'd managed to get his arms through the right holes on his shirt now. He barely even noticed the distance, barely noticed he was panting for air as he threw the front doors open, not letting them slow him down

At the sound of his voice, she was on her feet, Emmy securely on her hip.

"Eddie? Honey?" When he came through the door, her face creased in relief. "Oh, my God, Eddie."

Eddie was frozen in place in the doorway for a few moments, staring in awe at Lily and the baby on her hip. "Lily?" he said again, much more quietly this time, his feet finally moving forward even though he didn't remember telling them to do that. "Oh, Lily!"

Amy had said that Eddie hadn't seen Emmy, that she'd still been pregnant when he'd appeared, but Emmy definately knew Eddie; at the sound his voice, she started to squirm and twist in Lily's arms, trying to get a look at him, mumbling around her sucker.

"Oh, Eddie," said Lily, her eyes brimming with tears. "Eddie."

She was just as beautiful as she had been the last time he'd seen her, only significantly less pregnant. He threw his arms around her and squeezed her gently, and he just couldn' ask, he couldn't ask what his child's name was, he should have known.

"She was supposed to be born today," he said instead. "Today, right now, the baby was supposed to be born."
