she's running, and running, and running and she's running...

On a happier note, I just decided on a new ambition for summer: running. It's been in the back of my head for a while now, but today I realized its true potential and got quite excited about it. I also caught myself thinking about how I would love to be one of those graceful athletic women who run rain or shine, and as usual the minute I realized I ( Read more... )

If you need a running partner (and a good laugh, no doubt), drop me a line. Not sure if I can do the morning thing (I have to be at work everyday at 7), but I certainly need to get in shape myself. I've been doing pretty good with my weights, but I need certainly need cardio. Plus you'll look absolutely marvelous in comparison. ;)

*laughs* Thank you for the offer! I absolutely do not want to run with ANYBODY at first, even at the gym, though -- I need to train alone or I will either slack off and be social or get self conscious and work so hard I am not listening to my body and internalizing the engrams. It will only become a social thing once I've gotten the hang of running for ME, and then I can do it with other people. I'll keep you posted in the fall, if you're here! Which you should be!

Good luck with the running. It's always been a big struggle for me to do but I feel that it has merit. Plus it always seems required for black belt tests. At least the first one.

Thanks! I think it's a big struggle, too, but that's what makes me want to do it. A challenge, you know. One I can meet head on and witness improvement in!

Interesting on the running part, we never had that... although your cardiovascular fitness should be at about he level of a runner's, I suppose.

Loved your post. And, yes, running is like meditation. I've been doing it for more than 40 years, and I can tell you it has shaped my life significantly. I've created a blog at http://meditationontherun.blogspot.com/ to post my experiences in running and meditation, and I'm hoping others will join and add their thoughts.

Run. Run for fun. Run for your life. But run. If you benefit half as much as I have, you will be blessed, indeed.

Brilliant! I bookmarked this page to read soon. I was pretty damn good at running twice a week a first, but this week I didn't run at ALL... I've been extremely tired and under the weather to the point where even running would probably make things worse. However, I remain inspired. I refuse to say "Well, that's it, you fell out of the pattern, your done."

Your comment fuels that drive and inspiration -- thanks!
