Why is that freaky?

... It's freaky 'cause Maggie & I stood out on my balcony and watched the storm front move in at a fairly astonishing speed of like 35-mph... and then watched the sky turned into fairly epic cloud shapes that started changing into preemptive funnel spirals - above my apt. parking lot. It tried to do this about 3 times.

Standing on a balcony with a front view seat to the epic power of an obviously very angry Thunder God who is tossing fkn arc lightning (horizontal - the kind that can travel to strike up to like 10 miles away and in cloudless areas) around the sky ... and then you realize you are gripping an iron metal realizing, well, yeaaaaah - thats when you step back into the apartment, and start watching Thor from INside.

Maggie is from the West Coast; from Oregon... and a topography apparently not conducive to storms like this. She'd never seen thunder & lightning storms before :) Pretty amazing show to start her off with.

From 7:30pm until about 10pm, it was a pretty spectacular show :)

I was cuddled up in bed with Val for most of it. We heard it and saw a few flashes, but didn't experience it the way you did.

Heh, Oregon. Do they get any real weather there at all?

We've had one giant constant thunderstorm all day here on Long Island. It's still going on now. This afternoon it was really kind of neat; the sky was bright yellow and the storm took a long time to fully roll in, but there was this perpetual thundering noise that sounded kind of like an erupting volcano. Not one boom of thunder and another, just a constant rumbling that got louder and softer. Thunderstorms are awesome if they don't knock out my power.

Lucky!!!!

All of this sunshine every day is making me crazy! I'd give anything for a good thunderstorm. I miss crappy Buffalo/Rochester weather! ^_^;;
