Because my download speed for Pasta is completely unfair - waiting time, 20 hours .. ¬_¬ and because I've read some stuff connecting to this drama, I feel like wasting my time rewatching my first love, Hana Yori Dango.
You just put into words some of my thoughts about HYD fashion... the blouses!! However I do like Domouji first outfit... the jacket kind of fits him imo.
but they all are so adorkable that I can't help watching and re-watching... Now I may feel the need to watch some moments again... :S
I watched the Korean version first O.o' and I liked it but comparing, now what I can, please! HYD is the best! It has Matsujun and Oguri Shun!! (haven't watched the Taiwanese version)
Ahhhh...my first drama ever. I have such a soft spot for HYD. I held onto the BOF trainwreck as long as I could but alas, there was no saving it.
Plus: Oguri Shun > Kim Hyung Joong. Always and forever.
Though, speaking a HYD manga purist, I feel that if we took HYD's Makino and BOF's Domyoji (just Lee MIn-ho. They effed with his character in the second half) then we'd have one hell of an adaption. There really had a feel of what the characters in the manga were like. Le sigh. Hanadan is pretty awesome though. Bad fashion and all. I always wondered what animal decided to die on Matsujun's shoulder during their zoo date. Cause that's all I could think about looking back XD.
And I hate Meteor Garden. It sticks closely to the source material but by god is it shallow.
For some reason there is something in Matsumoto Jun that totally disagrees with me, like in "Noessss! this ugly ugly young man that looks like a monkey, go away from my screen!", but Oguri Shun is absolutely essential as Rui.
I have seen all three versions and the Japanese one is probably still the best. But each version has pluses and minuses for me:
Meteor Garden: 1. Shancai is much tougher than Makino (who becomes a puddle of crying in Hanadan 2)
Boys over flowers: 1. Was the only drama that finished Sojiro/Yuki (Yi Jung/ Ga Eul) story and finished it beautifully. This is my favourite secondary OTP of all times. They invented the ending for them which is not in the manga but this is a rare occasion when an adaptation is better than the source (at something). I always bothered me that their story was not finished (until BOF that is).
Hana Yori Dango: 1. The closest to manga 2. Has the best Rui (Oguri Shun)
He's not handsome or anything, but I think he does quite a job as Domyoji, despite not looking like the character.
I never finished Meteor Garden, but I agree with you on BOF (one of the few good things about that drama was Secondary OTP <3) and HYD, Oguri Shun will always be Rui to me. :)
Meteor Garden has low production quality which is quite distracting (like all Twdramas). But otherwise it is a most accurate adaptation. Some people can't watch Twdramas at all. I am fine with them personally, but .. I understand.

I agree, Korean BOF doesn't even come close to HYD.
Matsujun and Oguri Shun are awesome in this. :D
