(Not very) hot off the presses (I was busy, okay) and revealed in a talk at Tokyo University this month, we finally get our first samples for a couple of the Kaito Append voices and also the first samples of Miku, English version:

Append could make me like Kaito. MAYBE. At any rate, it'll be nice to have a manlier Vocaloid 2 voice that people are likely to actually use (sorry, Sensei).

English Miku is such a bad idea. I don't think it's as terrible as the comments make it out to be, though.

Yeah, there's a couple people mentioning amongst the comments that she's only reckoned to be 40% complete, and at that point she's going to sound pretty raw no matter what. She's holding notes pretty well, though.

Kaito whisper is awesome whatchu talking about.

idk man I just have this weird bias against the dude vocaloids in that I just don't like any of them at this point (except big al, but that's really for the hilarity, more than anything). :<

Old classics tend to be a tradition for English Vocaloids. I'm kind of surprised it wasn't Amazing Grace, honestly.

Well, Power is still kind of impressive when you remember this is presumably without tuning, and we all know how ...special Kaito usually sounds without tuning. In the proper hands, Power could be pretty amazing.

That's pretty true. The fact that whisper is that good out the gate is even more astonishing in light of it.

I'm sure news about her got released but every time I go to look it up I can't find it, so I get the odd moment of 'did I hallucinate it all?'.

I notice a definite improvement for Kaito. Whisper sounds really good, and I can't wait till a good tuner gets a hold of him.

Miku needs a lot more work, but considering she's less than halfway done, I'm impressed. She sounds near Luka level english already. I have high hopes for the finished product.

The main thing I want fixed for Miku - at least in that video - is the way that to me, she sounds really stark. It's like they tried to make her voice clear-cut and went too far, and now she needs a bit of rounding out.

Otherwise yeah, that's not too bad at all for halfway.
