I'm not posting here to be added but I just wanted to say that if you are wanting to get back in Chi to do theatre or Journalism, check out Columbia College Chicago. I went to LUC for a year and it really wasn't what I expected it to be and Columbia has many good programs that will get you internships and contacts in your field of study.

I do know that at LUC the Theatre Design department doesn't exsist and the Journalism is new (within the last two years) but that's about it. I didn't post this in the comm because I didn't think it would be the place to start to wave anti-Loyola banners and chant about how great Columbia is. ;)

I did look into Columbia (and was accepted). It is on the back burner right now though b/c socially I don't quite fit into the whole crazy/drug kid thing (not trying to support a steryotype, but I know some kids who went there and have gotten into some not so great things). I did visit there with some friends and it just didn't seem like it would fit me. They do have great theatre and journalism programs though.

Thanks for your honest opinion of Loyola though, thats why I came to LJ. On princeton review and on LUC's site you're not going to get the straight forward and/or negative views, which in all honesty, I would rather hear now than discover it for myself!

I understand what you are saying but if it makes you feel better, I'm not into the whole crazy/drug kid thing either but I do know many a kid who is, so I see the hestitation. Though if you feel you won't fit it, its probably not the place for you but if you do have Theatre questions, I can answer them!

I went to LUC as a PoliSci major and tried change to Theatre but it just wasn't what I wanted. Also I felt like the school lied to me about things. One of the largest was their insistance on having "small classes" when really the smallest class I had my second semester was 40 people. Things like that (as well as an almost outright refusal to help me develop a Theatre Design major) made me leave.

Well, I am truly intrested in theatre design rather than theatre as a whole, so that you so much for the input on that. It would suck to get there and then figure that out.

Columbia is still a posibility for me. There are parts of me that think I would do fine even if I didn't have many people I fit in with at the school because I do have some more friends in the general area and in the 'burbs. But at the same time, I am 19 (almost 20!) and my parents aren't to keen on Columbia. If I threw a fit (I am the youngest daughter of 3 so I have learned this still works at 19, lol) I could probably go, but I would be commuting. Although commuting to Columbia would be better than commuting to loyola; it would practically cut my time in half since I could take 290 straight into the Loop or the Metra.
