Oh, man, I love your Morales :-) His sass, his vanity, the caring underneath it all. His brassy language is a good fit for JDA and I can see him saying all this out of the public eye (ear?). Rusty's teen frustration at not being able to surprise anybody is on point, and his reaction to Rios. I'd like to see this group go on adventures and just revel in happy, sassy banter :-)

Aww, thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked it. (I was, of course, nervous about my first MC fic so I really appreciate the praise!) I've watched a few of JDA's behind the scenes videos and amped up his natural snark a bit. I really love the idea of Morales and Sharon being friends, as well as her being close to Gavin. I'd love to write some (probably drunken) adventures with those three!

This is another one that comes from a bit of personal experience in that I was so confused when I came out as an older teen and, despite being the definition of high femme, almost no one was surprised. One of my mentors finally told me it was because I never looked at guys with any interest, even her celebrity 'it boy' stepson who sometimes showed up and wandered around the house. I think teens are often so self absorbed they don't realize other people are observing them so I wanted to "teach" Rusty the same lesson and give him that comfort, too.

Love this! Morales seems like such a fun character to write, and I love this possibility for him and Rusty. And I really love the explanation of "straight bait" rather than Rusty's past being the proof/evidence. That's such an important distinction for me/him.

I have no idea why Morales, of all people, was the first character to start talking to me in this fandom but I'd guess it has to do with the fact that I as a queer young woman have always wanted more explicit conversation about gay sexualities amongst these characters. And it bothered the hell out of me that canon could have left less progressive people just thinking Rusty was gay because of the way he was forced to sell himself. I need, in my head and in my fic, for there to be a bright red, blinking line between rape of a minor and a young adult's sexual identity.

Oh, I love this. :) This is a show that definitely takes on issues surrounding sexual orientation, and you just have so much fun expanding on that here. Bravo.
