What, you seriously think they're not already doing this on the sly? (Well, the mail part. I'm sure they're already working on developing thought readers, too.)

Asking for details of your online presence and then monitoring your publicly available feeds is one thing - after all, if you say it publicly then why shouldn't you expect your employer/college to read it (although anonymous accounts are a much greyer area, if you are not publicly advertising that you are the source, why should you have to tell anyone that you are the source

That book scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Mostly because it was *so* very realistic when it came to predicting human behavior and how, due to human nature, man would screw up technology. Not to use it for the betterment of man but for their own personal greed.
