Science fiction fan that I am, I watched the premier of Jericho last week. Meh. I realize it can be difficult to bring anything original to a post-nuclear apocalypse story, but this was incredibly formulaic and clichéd, with dull dialog and crappy effects. The worst thing I have to say about it is that nothing surprised me.

Lev Grossman discusses fan fiction and plagiarism, looking at both Kaavya Viswanathan and Laurie Jareo - the fan ficcer who put her "Star Wars" story up for sale at several online bookstores, to the dismay of many here. Grossman's 3-minute piece is a love-letter to fanfic.
