So, the half-assed pseudo-actress Sharon Stone thinks she knows how Karma works? Must be because she's SUCH good friends with the Dalai Lama

Much as it may not be nice the fact remains that one of Hinduism's most basic concepts is that there is a spiritual ladder one must ascend to obtain nirvana - this was carried on to Buddhism as well for the most part, with some changes. If one lives a good life (morally speaking) than they are rewarded with a better (spiritually speaking) life the next time they reincarnate. If they continue to do good in that life than they ascend yet again in the ladder until they finally reach nirvana ( ... )

Maybe, except she's trying to say that these children (and their parents) are suffering because of the Chinese government's *current* actions!

And, aside from all that, to pull out some snide "Well, maybe you deserved it" comment in the face of that kind of pain is just...gah, I can't even express the low kind of mentality that must take...

I agree completely. Those kind of remarks, even if they have a basis in theology, are in very low taste.

After all... how did we all feel when Hagee said New Orleans was destroyed by God because it was a sinful city?

It may have a basis in the Bible. But saying the suffering doesn't manner is both demeaning to the victims and misunderstands the purpose of divine retribution - to send a warning to all. After all, otherwise any divinities would be busy smiting on a regular basis.
