Straight Times... Does that mean the paper is too straight-laced to cover anything unapproved by the Spore government? Or something else?

I believe the term was coined by gay Singaporeans because up to 5-6 years ago, the word "gay" did not appear in the media at all, and Singapore was basically a "straight" world except for a few boy molesters...

well that has changed, but use of the term "Straight Times" has taken on a much broader meaning to include "straight-laced" as you rightly suggested.
