Races - Elves (Part 1 of 3. Again)

The first of the three major non-human races from Daughter of Gryphons. There may be more, but they haven't made themselves known as of yet.

Elves are tall (6'6" being about average for them), and usually wiry, with a racial tendancy to olive-toned skin and dark hair (black or very dark brown). Their eyes are mirrored - silvery, reflective and ( Read more... )

Thanks!

Elves have become entirely too generic, haven't they? It's rather annoying.

How do their eyes work?

I'm a little on the fence about the pheromone business. Do they smell sexually appealing or is it just a yummy smell like chocolate?
Some hunters use fox urine (which smells like skunk) to cover their scent so that deer aren't frightened of them. Would it be something like that?
. . .Or do elves smell like crushed pine needles? o_O

I was actually thinking like vanilla. Because seriously, have you smelled pure vanilla essence? Holy mother of god yes YUM. *ahem*

The silver is actually a protective layer over the eye proper, it filters out nastiness and protects the eyeball. It's silver simply because I thought the mirror eyes effect could be very, very creepy if I manage to use it right.

*singing* Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree! *ahem* Sorry, that's my automatic response to Kookaburras and proof that I am a true-blue Aussie gal.

I imagine that you'd only see an elf's true eyes under the rarest of circumstances, and it would be horrifying.

I'm... not entirely sure what a tapetum lucidem is...

Hey Sinestris, long time no see. I've been busy with college and having no internet and stuff. Your description of Elven history reminds me a wee bit of Ayleids of Oblivion. The only difference I can make is that your elves were most likely ruled by a single monarch whereas the Ayleids were more tribal, with each having their own warlord and thus prone to internal fighting.

Hey Sulibres!

Having never actually played Oblivion or indeed any of the Elder Scrolls games, I honestly have no idea what the Ayleids are. I actually think I was inspired by a theory on how Time Lord society works...
