Parrots are indeed vulnerable to Asian bird flu.

I must clarify my little BSE joke. Britain's BSE ("mad cow") epidemic is home grown. That wondrous brain rot got into cattle from scrapies-infected sheep being ground up and added to cattle feed. Britain's immediate response to the outbreak was to state that this must have come from some other, lesser country, and ban the importation of foreign cattle and beef, in the still-held belief that this would keep them all safe. The United States, whose FDA is oh, just so competent, is following a similarly idiotic course of action; blame everyone else, the new American way, don't mind that timber obstructing your vision. And this is why we will all inevitably die from eating hamburgers.
