Whooo, election results

I went to bed at, like, 11, after watching Deval Patrick's victory speech as MA governor (wooooooo! except he, sniff, didn't mention the gay people.), which was fun. He is apparently the first Democratic governor of MA since Dukakis, and plus he seemed great during the debates, so this is all very exciting. Yay. I voted for him. And some Greens in ( Read more... )

(It's funny how during the campaign, no one ever mentioned his race that I could tell, and as soon as he wins the news is all "second African-American elected as governor ever!")

I definitely remember newspaper coverage of the race mentioning that we would either get our first African-American governor of MA or the first woman elected governor of MA.

Oh, yeah. I think I did see that once. But it definitely seemed a lot more prominent once he'd won.

Though, checking SFGate, I see California's got Arnold. Again. Boo. Butat least they seem very excited that the Speaker of the House is thefirst woman and also the first Californian to do so.

yeah, i was pissed off to see that CA reelected the governator. people are dumb.

but hey, nancy pelosi as speaker! that's a good thing.

I don't know who Nancy Pelosi is, but it sounded like a good thing to me. :)

Clearly CA Democrats need to field their *own* movie star. Maybe then they'd stand a chance, because CA clearly likes to elect People Who Are Cool. (I didn't know Leland Stanford had been governor until recently, but, you know, it makes sense.)

nancy pelosi is pretty groovy. while not as liberal as she could be (in san francisco, she's seen as a moderate) she is nevertheless in favor of most of the right things -- abortion rights, education, civil liberties -- and appears to be pro-gay marriage.

hm. yeah. CA seems to like electing B-movie stars that become republicans. i hear that lots of hollywood types are liberal, so let's recruit some of them instead. (ideally, one of the brighter ones, since most hollywood stars come off sounding like airheads - though maybe they're secretly brilliant underneath?)

Nancy Pelosi does sound cool. Yay Nancy!

I mean, surely there must be a Democrat movie star who wouldn't mind being governor, right?

Then I realized that I had actually seen a BSG vid to this song ("What have you done today to make you feel proud?").

Ahaha! That's fantastic. And the first time *I* ever heard that song, it was in the first episode of Queer as Folk. Love!
