Oh darling, it's not your fault. That's the frustrating thing with democracy, isn't it? You vote, you try to convince others to vote, you explain to people why you vote the way you do hoping they'll be persuaded to vote your way, but at the end of the day you only have your vote.
She's winning the popular vote, though? As of right now. So the really frustrating thing is that population density in the wrong places plus THE GODDAMN ELECTORAL COLLEGE (plus, y'know, gerrymandering and voter suppression) means she didn't win.
(Also her numbers in various demographics are kind of appalling and I cannot work out how any group that Trump directly insulted mutiple times went for Hillary less than they did for Obama. I don't understand any of this.)
You know, we were supposed to be the ones who got the crown for biggest political fuck-up and ugliest surge of racist populism this year!
Seriously, though, I am utterly gutted for all the good, decent people in the US (and out of it). All my hugs, lightweight though they are, are on their way to you. I hope maybe you have some decent down-ticket people where you are?
I'm in Massachusetts -- we got all Democrats except in the state senate race where the Republican incumbent basically tried to get the Democrat's wife illegally fired from her state job when the Democrat declared he was running. And he won. And congratulated his opponent on his clean campaign. Super classy.

Thank you anyway. I'm sorry we let the rest of the world down. I tried.

Not that hugs make this less real or scary, but I hope they help a bit at least. -.-
