This has happened to me before in the sims 2, but it was quickly fixed once I moved out the family, however it has struck again ( Read more... )

Sounds like a corrupted lot. Bulldoze it and rebuild is the only suggestion I have.

It might be worth activating testingcheats from the neighborhood and see if an error log pops up -- if so, you can post that and see if someone can tell you why (the usual suspect is custom content gone bad).

The constant loading says to me the game is likely continually resetting on the error: error pops up, game resets, error pops up again, game resets again...you get the idea. If it is CC it might be easy to fix (if it's something minor like a sofa, pressing delete on the error log will delete it and let you in to the lot) or it might be a bulldoze and rebuild issue if it's too corrupt.

Oh? That sounds intersting! Testingcheats will report me an error log if entered from the neighborhood screen? Will me clicking "delete" further corrupt anything?

It sounds like it could be some rouge piece of CC, but it is so strange, because 9/10 times I NEVER decorate or change anything in the dorms. I mean, it has been a long time since I've played the lot, so I can't remember.
I'm just wondering why it stopped working on that lot, while the other house I had that problem in was fixed after I moved out the Ramiswamis.

Thankfully the "family" of uni students aren't corrupt, considering that I moved in the "Freshman" family of Jared, Sam, and Ty. I also moved in Tessa from Bluewater Village.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? Will the error log tell me what piece of CC it is?

Testingcheats will certainly give you an error log loading up the house -- I've had some on apartment lots (for some reason community time project isn't playing too nicely so I get pop-ups whenever they return from a community lot ( ... )

It's worth a shot to just try loading it with debug mode on and clicking delete if an error pops up. You already know that, at worst case, you've lost the lot. Occasionally, just letting the errored item be deleted (and it might be a placed object or something invisible, like a token of some sort) can fix your issue. And then it'll be fine.

There are certain oddities I've seen with dorms in regards to the moving out cycle--they usually lose all the NPCs/dormies, and you're back to morning at an empty dorm when you move sims back in. But I've had errors during moving out in which I had to rescue sims, dorms where I came back the next generation where the building was fine, but the cook and dormies were still there and it wasn't automatically morning... They're not normal residential lots, and sometimes odd things happen.

Here you go! I did exactly as you asked.

That's the link to the error log. What I found interesting, however, was when I was in Logs there was an excel file that was created along with my log titled "OETreeDelete". I wasn't sure if that is needed?

Once I clicked delete, I was able to get back inside the house. It was peculiar, since I had already moved out the sims who lived there, but their faces still appeared on the door marker.

I also took a picture of the error screen that appeared in game, just encase you need that too.

Okay, I had no idea what the "Emitter - Pet - Cars" was, but a quick google led me to this thread on Simbology. (If you can't see it, a couple of options people have said it might have been: Toy car; Womrat; Stray animal; Toy dog (from AL).)

Another site shows the error comes from a file with Pets (did you have any caged animals on the lot?) -- however there seems to be no harm in deleting the emitter so everything should be okay now (and if this error comes up in the future, you can do the same thing).

I've also got an OETreeDelete -- I don't know what it's there for so I just leave it.

You know? It IS possible that there was a caged animal on the lot! I believe there used to be one. But considering the sms I had there, I am not exactly sure. None of them striked me as the "caged animal" type of person. :-P

It could have been some stray animal. I do know I have caged animals converted from TS3 that function. Maybe it was that?
