Question: Sims 2: Geneticized and Townified eyes

If I have one set of default eyes, and a creator offers up eyes that are 1-defaulted, 2-geneticized, and 3-townified (or both 2 and 3), can I download anything besides the defaults? I know how defaults work but it's a little murkier for me when it comes to townified and geneticized. Or should I just do custom and slap them on in a mirror? I heard ( Read more... )

You can only have one set of defaults at a time, but you can also download the full set that the downloads are from as well without any issue (you just might have repeats of the colors that are defaulted, depending on how the creator made the set/sets). As far as gen/townified, that's up to your own personal preference. Geneticized just means that certain colors are dominant/more likely to be passed down to children than others; townified means that the eyes can show up on game-generated sims/NPCs, etc. The only issue with having the eyes townified, I think, is that if you ever remove that set, the townies who generated with those eyes would need to be fixed in SimPE, assuming you care what their eyes look like.
Here's a really thorough explanation of genetics in TS2 and here's a step-by-step tutorial on changing eyes/skin in SimPE ( ... )

Townified just means that townies and NPC's can be generated with them. The reason you want to "love them forever" is because if you remove the eyes that a townie is wearing, then they will have no eyes (though technically, they will have the eyes that the skin they are using has painted on, so no, they wont have NO eyes, they will just be weird looking eyes). Now, geneticized eyes means that they have genetic properties and are properly handed down generation after generation.

I usually see eyes that are 1) defaults 2) geneticized and/or townified 3) custom (which means neither genectized or townified).

You can only install either geneticized/towniefied OR custom sets, not both.
