Many people like those colors (mainly for hair - but it's used for objects as well), but recoloring all the hairs/ojects manually in all those colors is quite a task.
So, some turned made the recolor-action into scripts for recolor programs such as Photoshop. That way, you start with one (base) color (usually a blonde), and then use the scripts to get all the other colors with just a few clicks. The outcome is lots of recolors in pretty much always the same shade/hue/etc of the pallette and you get matching things in your game.
