This seems very real, and very possible - how often do we really get a satisfying end to a friendship, if indeed there is such a thing? A lot of the "[character] leaves to cope with [issue]" fics have the character coming back at the end and things going on as before, but this is much more true to life, I think. I like the tone you set for Catherine at the end, too. Very nice.

I really loved your review, espeically the part about how usually characters just come back and everything returns to the way it was before. I think it's true that in life that doesn't always happen.

I was tempted, with Catherine, to maybe have her and Grissom wind up together, but ultimately I decided against it. I'm glad you like the tone that was set for her.
