Ah, making your way through a terminal is easy enough, and flight staff are REEEALLY helpful when it's your first flight alone.
Anyway, the tactic I'd go with is the 'it's time for me to start experiencing things on my own, and seeing as I am going on to college, this might be a good place to start- I'll learn to handle documents on my own, and if a problem arises I'll be sure to talk to the flight crew, security staff, etc. After all, if those guys aren't there to help and protect my interests, what are they there for?' speech.
And HONESTLY, if the flight's the only thing they're worried about- I went to China 3 years ago, and I came back alive. XD
What you have to do is show acts of responsibility you have shown before, including in past meet ups, and how Tao doesn't live alone and all that, and how airports are not that hard and they have kids flying alone all the time. Hope you get it! :)
