Today I Had an Adventure

So, hey. Remember the last time I was a Joyful Girl?Ever since I got here, college has taught me so much and offered me that much more. I think the offers I've learned to appreciate best are the spontaneous ones. Forget the class and the textbooks; college has taught me that sometimes - just every now and then - something will come along when you' ( Read more... )

I am glad to see you are a Joyful Girl! Your joy... brings me joy? Yes, that's it.

Camera phone pic or not, that is a pretty sight.

Well, good. I think everyone could use some more joy in their lives - you especially. I probably should have commented in your journal, but I couldn't really find the right words. I still can't now, I don't think, but ... I'm sorry things didn't work out with Maryland. I hope they do soon.

And, man, words cannot even describe how much that picture does not do the actual sight justice. I mean - everyone's seen a sun rise, I'm sure, but somehow trying to capture the specific ones with words or pictures always tends to end in, like, massive failure and you're left feeling like an overly artsy-fartsy sun rise snob 'cause you keep going, "Oh, you have no idea though -- the colors were so exquisite!"

Awwww, thanks. Honestly, I didn't really expect anyone to comment on my last two entries... I know that it's hard to know what to say to posts like that. Trust me, it means more than you could know just that you mentioned it, and offered well wishes. I will try to avoid getting too sappy, but I really do appreciate it.

And hey, I'm sure the colors were exquisite! I know that area can be particularly beautiful when it comes to simple natural wonders like that. ("Simple natural wonders"? I really don't like how that sounds, but I can't think of a better way to phrase it.) My dad used to work in the Blue Ridge district of his company about ten years or so ago and we went down there a lot. (Yeah, he spent a lot of time commuting, as the geography might indicate. Heh.) I've never been a huge nature person (I'd rather be inside with a book, to be honest), but I remember being in awe whenever we went there. It was the only nature-oriented vacation I ever really enjoyed. So I say, hey, you had a beautiful experience and therefore you ( ... )

It's terrible that the last time you were a joyful girl was in 2006!

It's less terrible that you're joyful now :) The sun rising is the best, prettiest thing.

Oh, I dunno. It's not like I haven't been happy since then, of course. It's just ... I dunno. I say "Joyful Girl" when I'm talking about a really unique sort of happy feeling, you know? I wouldn't want to have it all the time, that'd cheapen the feeling, I think.

It really is. And the mountains around here are amazing, so that helps too.

One day, I'll hike that piece of the Appalachian Trail too. *nod*

(also, yay for spontaneous trips!)
