This is my first submission in this comm so I'm not sure if this is correct ^^; sorry...

It is correct! But you don't need to put the artist/mangaka's name there if it's from a series. Only if the artwork of the icon is not from a specific series, and is only from an artbook.

are we allowed to use the cloning tool and healing brush to get rid of the text/watermark in an image?

Would the "mask" have to cover the whole face like, well, a real mask or does an eyepatch count too

Well, I don't really consider an eye patch to be a "mask." Anything like this is fine, or a mask that covers the whole face.
