Seriously, when I was a lad, we didn't have schools closed because it was snowing, we walked! Of course, kids aren't allowed to walk to school any more. It's not safe.

When we lived in London for a few months back in 94 there was a big snow then. I remember we were charmed by the signs apologizing about the trains being cancelled or delayed due to weather. We had just moved from NYC where the reaction to weather delays was "What the fuck it's not our fault sit and wait."
However I will say Southern England is like Southern US in dealing with snow - totally unprepared and freaks out never really clearing it up as well as the states that get it regularly do.
