So, I headed off to work this morning. And yes, I actually managed to get there, despite 6" - 12" of snow on the ground. Seriously, the car park at work was under 12". I phoned the boss and told him. he said to phone to cancel the fits today, cancel the fitters, and go home. (I forgot to cancel the surveys, but then he didn't mention that until ( Read more... )

Lot of walking to work going on around here today although in fairness the binmen came to empty the wheelie bins :)

Seriously, when I was a lad, we didn't have schools closed because it was snowing, we walked! Of course, kids aren't allowed to walk to school any more. It's not safe.

Looks like home!

When we lived in London for a few months back in 94 there was a big snow then. I remember we were charmed by the signs apologizing about the trains being cancelled or delayed due to weather. We had just moved from NYC where the reaction to weather delays was "What the fuck it's not our fault sit and wait."

However I will say Southern England is like Southern US in dealing with snow - totally unprepared and freaks out never really clearing it up as well as the states that get it regularly do.
