My Fair Oliver

So, this quiz is entitled "My Fair Oliver" for a reason. Below are lyrics extracted from several songs from either Oliver or My Fair Lady. Your job is to work out which is which. But be warned: There are a few wild cards in there. These songs are from neither of the above musicals. Obviously, you must identify the musical they are from. (This is to stop people who know all the songs from one but not the other from simply using logic to get all the answers right!)

As ever, please don't use any on-line resources to find the answers.

So, here we go:

1) I'm gettin' married in the mornin', Ding Dong the bells are gonna chime.

2) Consider yourself well in. Consider yourself one of the family.

3) Oom-pa-pah, Oom-pa-pah, that's 'ow it goes, Oom-pa-pah, Oom-pa-pah every one knows. They all suppose what they want to suppose, when they hear oom-pa-pah.

4) So you want to be a boxer, want to be the champ? There's a golden boy inside you, not a punched out tramp.

5) The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain. (I think she's got it, I think she's got it).

6) I have often walked down this street before, but the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before. All at once am I several stories high, knowing I'm on the street where you live.

7) In this life, one thing counts: In the bank, large amounts. I'm afraid these don't grow on trees, you've got to pick-a-pocket or two.

8) Who will buy this wonderful morning. I'm so high I swear I could fly.

9) Why can't the English teach their children how to speak? Italians learn Italian, the Greeks are taught there Greek. One common language I'm afraid we'll never get, Oh why can't the English learn to set a good example to those other folks who's English is painful to the ears. The Scots and the Irish leave you close to tears. (In America they haven't used it for years).

10) I'm Reviewing, The Situation. Can a fellow be a villan all his life? All the trials and tribulations, Better settle down and get myself a wife. And the wife would cook and sew for me and come for me and go for me And go for me and nag at me the fingers she would wag at me The money she would take for me The misery she'd make from me I think I'd better think it out again...

11) The Lord above made liquor for temptation, to see if man could turn away from sin. The Lord above made liquor for temptation but, with a little bit o' luck, with a little bit o' luck when temptation comes you'll give right in!

12) I have confidence in sunshine I have confidence in rain I have confidence that spring will come again Besides what you see I have confidence in me!

13) All I want is a room somewhere, Far away from the cold night air. With one enormous chair, Aow, wouldn't it be loverly? Lots of choc'lates for me to eat, Lots of coal makin' lots of 'eat. Warm face, warm 'ands, warm feet, Aow, wouldn't it be loverly?

14) Strong men tremble when they hear it! They've got cause enough to fear it! It's much blacker than they smear it! Nobody mentions... My name!

15) Food, glorious food, Hot sausage and mustard, While we're in the mood, Cold jelly and custard, Pease pudding and saveloys, What next? Is the question, Rich gentlemen have it, boys: In dye-ges-ti-on!

16) Just you wait, 'enry 'iggins, just you wait! You'll be sorry, but your tears'll be to late! You'll be broke, and I'll have money; Will I help you? Don't be funny! Just you wait, 'enry 'iggins, just you wait!

17) Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. Getting to like you, Getting to hope you like me. Getting to know you, Putting it my way, But nicely, You are precisely, My cup of tea.

18) You can go but be back soon, you can go but while you're working, just play some pacing round, until you're home safe and sound. Fare thee well but be back soon, who can tell where danger's lurking, do not forget this tune, be back soon!

19) Where is love? Does it fall from skies above? Is it underneath the willow tree That I've been dreaming of? Where is she? Who I close my eyes to see? Will I ever know the sweet "hello" That's only meant for me? Who can say where she may hide? Must I travel far and wide? 'Til I am beside the someone who I can mean something to ... Where...? Where is love?

20) Bed! Bed! I couldn't go to bed! My head's too light to try to set it down! Sleep! Sleep!
I couldn't sleep tonight. Not for all the jewels in the crown! I could have danced all night! I could have danced all night! And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings And done a thousand things I've never done before. I'll never know What made it so exciting; Why all at once My heart took flight. I only know when he Began to dance with me I could have danced, danced, danced all night!
